WELCOME TO HOWARD PLANT VFW POST 782

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group. Our common bond is the battlefield, whether you served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Kosovo, the Global War on Terrorism, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, or peace-keeping expeditionary campaign. Your courage and sacrifice made a difference in preserving and defending world peace. If you are an eligible combat veteran, join us at our Post Meeting on the 1st Tuesday of the month!

OUR MISSION

To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans.

Our Vision: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.

JOIN THE VFW

Join us as brothers and sisters of America to preserve the rights of veterans and support each other as only those who share in the camaraderie forged by conflict can.

Outdoor Adventures for Those Who Serve

Vermont Adaptive is proud to offer programs specifically designed for injured service members, veteran’s with disabilities, and their families. Since the organization’s inception, we have worked with veterans with disabilities and evolved our programs to match the changes in the needs and interests of men and women who have been injured in the line of duty.

Many years ago, Vermont Adaptive was a major destination for groups of physically disabled veterans from the Vietnam era. We then saw an increase in disabled veterans participating in sport through and after the Persian Gulf crisis. We have now entered a new era, where veterans with disabilities include those with both physical and invisible disabilities like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and brain injuries.

Through the years, we have participated in national initiatives like the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project and events, plus we continually work with our partners like Disabled Sports USA, the US Paralympics, and the United States Association of Blind Athletes. Our efforts are on a local, regional and national level.

Support for Everyone on Your Journey

We continue to increase our services, outreach, programs, training, and events for veterans with a disability on local, regional and national levels. We also continue to help veterans’ families while they navigate their transitional journey through rehabilitation and recovery and regaining independence. Participation in our activities is very empowering — it can help reunite families, create new relationships and assist in major life transitions.
